Step 4: Evangelism Training -
How to Begin Talking about Spiritual Things...
If God wants us to experience a meaningful fulfilling life, why are so many people not experiencing this? A casual look at what is happening in the world with its wars, strife and selfishness prove the point. We need help to do what is right! Why are so many confused and discontent with life? How does God feel about all this and how can one begin experiencing God's best for our lives?
Whatever people are dealing with, our intention is to help them realize that a relationship with God will make their lives more fulfilling.
PRACTICE SHARING "FAITH STORIES" IN YOUR EVERYDAY CONVERSATION.
Short stories that tell how God is or has made a difference in your life. Many times you can share a story that relates well with a challenge your friend is struggling with.(see Faith Stories)
(We need POWER to do what is right! And as strange as it may seem, that empowerment and motivation comes by personally experiencing Christ and His love. He wants us to experience life to its fullest. Our sin keeps us from experiencing it. This saddens God but He chose to reach out to our need for forgiveness and bring life to the full through Jesus. We can experience this life by believing or trusting in Jesus and being transformed by His love.]
Therefore, when you sense someone is spiritually curious or you feel the Holy Spirit nudging you to bring up the Gospel message, there are a couple of simple approaches that lead into the 5 discussion points.
A) Ask, "Have you ever heard of the verse in the Bible... John 3:16?" Whatever their answer say, "It contains the main message of the Bible, that is, how to experience life its fullest both now and forever." Then simply ask if you can share what you discovered in this verse.
B) Or ask, "Has anyone ever discussed with you the main message of the Bible?" They likely will say something like, "I'm not sure, what is it?" To which you can say, "You can find it in the verse John 3:16 and its how a person can experience life to its fullest, both now and forever. Can I take a little time and show it to you?"
With a little practice, you can easily discuss and explain the Good News by focusing on the 5 KEY WORDS as "talking points". Or refer to the 'witnessing guide' as you carry on your discussion with them.
Feel free to discuss the "5 talking points" in the order that makes the most sense to you. Some people like to form their conversation around the "Summary" section (Core Message) and simply expand on each point. Whatever works for you is what matters! Below is how it is concisely presented in the John 3:16 yOur Greatest HOPE Gospel Booklet which you can download free.
